Our Mission
The mission of the Center for Africana Studies at Central Connecticut State University is to foster and advance interdisciplinary understanding and appreciation of Africa, African Americans, and individuals of African heritage across the Diaspora.
Our commitment lies in highlighting the rich cultures and significant contributions of African peoples, whether on the African continent itself or within the global context. This mission is realized through the collaborative efforts of three integral components: African Studies, African American Studies, and the Archaeology Laboratory specializing in African and African Diaspora Studies.
In addition to our academic pursuits, the Center serves as a steadfast advocate for equity and justice. It functions as a vital hub for fostering engagement among students, staff, faculty, and the broader community, embodying our commitment to promoting inclusivity and social progress.
