Computer Engineering Technology, BS

Central to Understanding Digital Systems.

Central’s BS in Computer Engineering Technology offers students in-depth knowledge and skills with computer related systems and devices based on the foundation of physics and applied mathematics, and focuses on hardware and software skills for design, implementation, integration, and support of systems involving microprocessors, computers, and networks.

Graduates are prepared for positions in computer programming, system software projects, digital logic design, computer interfacing, digital systems design and trouble-shooting, circuit design and trouble-shooting, or as computer and network administrators.

Program Educational Objectives

Graduates from Computer Engineering Technology program are expected to demonstrate:

  • Technical proficiency by using and applying knowledge to identify, analyze and solve problems in computer engineering technology.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to articulate knowledge, concepts and ideas (in a clear and concise manner by both oral and written form within interpersonal, team and group environments).
  • Professionalism and ethics, including a commitment to utmost performance quality and timeliness, respect for diversity and awareness of international issues.
  • Desire and commitment in continuing professional development and lifelong learning.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline
  2. Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.
  3. Ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
  4. Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes
  5. Ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
