This day will highlight first-gen students, faculty and staff in the STEM fields and will be hosted by the School of Engineering, Science, Technology.

Join us as we engage with our distinguished panel of AIH faculty and staff. They will share their personal first-gen college experiences and provide valuable insights about things they wish they had known during their college years, along with offering advice for those embarking on their own academic journeys. Tuesday, November 7

During this day, Central Access, Success, and Academics (CASA), in collaboration with Admissions, will be hosting some of our K-12 partners to offer Central tours and events.

9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.  Admissions Session (Memorial Hall, First Floor Tour room)  

9:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. - EOP/Trio SSS (Memorial Hall, First Floor Tour room)  

10 a.m. - 11 a.m.  Claim Your Future Workshop (Memorial Hall, Second Floor, Constitution Room)   

11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  Central Student Panel. (Memorial Hall, Second Floor, Constitution Room)

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Campus Tours  

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.  Lunch  

1:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Closing Remarks (Memorial Hall, Second Floor, Constitution Room)   

Wednesday, November 8

Location: Willard DiLoreto Atrium 

Career services will offer a resource tabling event that will connect first-gen students to career preparation resources.  

  • Career Closet Attire Demos: 10:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:15 p.m.  
  • First-gen Spoken Word Challenge: Best poems will be entered into a live drawing during the afternoon first-gen day celebration. The winner will receive a gift basket including first-gen prizes and a $75 Barnes & Noble gift card. The winning poem will be read during the first-gen celebration live in Alumni Hall. All poem recordings will be featured on our first-gen website!

This event will be a celebration of all first-gen students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The campus community is invited to come together for first-gen panel, food, fun, and photo novelties!   

Thursday, November 9

During this day, we want to celebrate and remember our First-gen Veterans. This day will begin with the traditional veteran's ceremony in celebration of Veteran's Day. After this ceremony we will hold a First-gen Veteran Student Panel, where stories will be shared and the topic of on campus integration will be discussed.
