Origins In Africa
March - April 1839: Clinque and other native Africans and captured and sent to Cuba aboard slave ship Tecora.
May - June 1839: Arrive at Cuba and are sold to Portuguese slave traders, Jose Ruiz and Pedro Montes. They are boarded onto the ship, The Amistad, and head to Camaguey, Cuba
July 1839: led by Clinque, a mutiny was held killing the Amistad's captain Ramon Ferrer and seizing control of the ship.
July - August 1839: steered by Pedro Montes, the ship sails east by day and northwest by night.
