Academics

Central Connecticut State University is dedicated to excellence in teaching and scholarship and prepares students to be thoughtful, responsible, and successful citizens.

We offer a diverse array of academic programs, with more than 100 undergraduate and over 75 graduate options, allowing students to tailor their education to their career goals.

At Central, we take pride in our interdisciplinary approach, offering programs like the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) as well as the opportunity to create a custom Special Studies major with the guidance of an academic advisor. Beyond traditional coursework, our students engage in academic research, career-starting co-op programs and internships, and a growing array of community engagement activities.

Academically gifted first year students are encouraged to apply to our Honors Program, which spans across all majors and features smaller class sizes for a more personalized learning experience.

Our global perspective is reflected in innovative learning partnerships with 70 leading universities in 40 countries, providing international study opportunities that prepare students to thrive as global citizens in America's multicultural society.

Graduate programs at Central are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and contribute to our rapidly changing world while fostering a commitment to lifelong learning. Many of our graduate courses are offered in flexible online and hybrid formats, making advanced education accessible to working professionals.
