Accelerated programs kick into high gear at Central

Accelerate Central is gaining even more momentum with the addition of nine academic pathways to a post-graduate degree.

Launched in 2020, Accelerate Central offers highly motivated and well-qualified undergraduate students the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in as few as five years of full-time study. (Courses of study will vary, depending on enrollment and the pathway selected.) Nearly 30 accelerated pathways are now available to students.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, weekly earnings for those with a master’s degree are 18 percent higher than for those with solely a bachelor's degree. Advanced degrees can play a critical part in workplace advancement and set students on a path to more advanced degrees, such as a doctorate.

Accelerated pathways are available in several academic departments, including Accounting, Criminology, English, Finance, and Psychological Science, among others.

Accelerate Central is open to Central students who have completed 60 or more hours of course credits with a grade point average of 3.30 or higher. After they complete the requirements for an undergraduate degree, Accelerate Central students will matriculate into the School of Graduate Studies for the following semester. Graduate Admissions advisors will then work with students to determine the pace at which they complete their accelerated pathway.

“Accelerate Central is a game-changer for ambitious undergraduates,” says Central President Zulma R. Toro. “Central has taken great care to consider the unique needs of our students, many of whom are balancing their studies with jobs and family obligations. With this innovative pathway initiative, students can dive deeper into their field of study, gain advanced knowledge, and enter the workforce as a highly qualified employee sooner than ever before.”
