Just in time for the fall semester, Central Connecticut State University wrapped up several facility upgrades designed to enhance the campus experience and support institutional goals.Â
The improvements reflect the university’s commitment to providing a cutting-edge learning environment and fostering a vibrant campus community.Â
In Central’s residence halls, a special delivery of new furniture creates more comfortable and modern living spaces for resident students. Other improvements in the residence halls include upgraded flooring and fresh paint.
Recent maintenance on some of Central’s older parking garages includes minor concrete repairs and fresh paint to ensure a cleaner, more efficient parking experience for commuter students.
The first floor of Maria Sanford Hall has been reimagined as the Cybersecurity Hall. This extensive renovation includes new walls, ceilings, flooring, lighting, HVAC systems, data and technology infrastructure, and updated signage. The space features two advanced classrooms equipped with wall displays, whiteboards, and computers tailored for Cybersecurity classes. Additionally, two renovated conference rooms will accommodate meetings between academic and industry partners as they discuss emerging technologies and collaborate with student and faculty groups.
After extensive renovations at Vance Academic Center, the new AI Corridor will serve students enrolled in Central’s new academic minor program in the application of Artificial Intelligence, along with their peers across other academic disciplines, including computer science, linguistics, psychology, and design. The space presents opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge and skills while contributing to research and development in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The AI Corridor includes three classrooms and a specialized AI research room that features an isolated AI server, a meeting space, a robot dog, and provisions for a future hologram display.
In support of its sustainability goals, Central has installed a Sunbolt Campus XL solar table outside of Devil’s Den. This innovative table harnesses solar power to offer a clean, renewable energy source for charging phones, tablets, laptops, and other mobile devices.
