Design students win accolades for their work

Three students in Central's Department of Art and Design earned awards for projects they created as part of their coursework.

The University & College Designers Association awarded an Honorable Mention to Angelo Reyes for his poster submission to UCDA’s annual student poster competition.

This year’s competition theme of “Immerse” invited students to explore the possibilities of immersive design.

Reyes crafted an AR-enhanced poster titled “Wings of Jungle,” which he created in his Design 222 course. Reyes’ poster was one of only 16 to receive an Honorable Mention out of approximately 115 total entries. As an honorable mention, the poster was printed and displayed at the Design Education Summit held at Arizona State University in May.

Dog food packaging designs created by McKenna Pasquinelli and Carla Bastida Olivares in their Design 322 class were recognized with student Excellence Awards from the Connecticut Art Director’s Club. The packaging designs were juried and exhibited at CADC’s 48th annual award show in June 2024.
