Hundreds of fans turn out for Central Night at Dunkin Park

The Hartford Yard Goats hosted Central Night on June 27, with more than 400 Blue Devils in the stands at Dunkin Park as the Yard Goats took on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Yard Goats played as Los Chivos de Hartford to celebrate the people and culture of Colombia.

The event was one of many scheduled this year to celebrate Central’s 175th anniversary, and Central staff were on-hand to offer giveaways and university information at the front gate. The first 175 fans received a foam “finger” styled after the university mascot, Kizer the Blue Devil.

During pre-game festivities, President Zulma R. Toro took the field to welcome the Central community to the event, with an assist from Kizer himself. Kizer later joined Yard Goats mascot Chompers for fan games and competitions on the field between innings.

The Yard Goats defeated the Fisher Cats with a final score of 7 to 5.
