Students in Dr. David Sianez’s Transportation Design course built a Hawaiian outrigger canoe this semester. The boat is 16 feet long, 8 feet wide, and constructed from marine plywood and fiberglass composite. Their work proved sound when the students took the canoe out for a test voyage on Batterson Pond earlier this month.
