Four Physics majors at Central have received the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates awards. This prestigious award offers students the opportunity to conduct research over the summer, with boarding, lodging, and travel expenses covered.
Gabriel Garcia will do research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a project titled “Air Quality Science Under TEMPO” with Dr. Brad Pierce.
Meg Farinsky was offered two awards: A Department of Energy Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship at General Atomics and a spot at the Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE). She has committed to Cornell CLASSE.
Michael Burnes will be at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and work with renowned interactive STEM programing group, PhET.
Michael Gammon will conduct research at Kansas State University. He will have a choice of Condensed Matter & Biological Matter Physics, High Energy Particle Physics, and Cosmology research, among other subjects.
