The film explores the cultural traditions surrounding the Peruvian festival honoring the Lord of Miracles in Hartford. The festival has its roots in 17th century Afro-Peruvian responses to disastrous earthquakes in Lima, Peru, and arrived in Connecticut with Peruvian immigrants in the 1960s. Today thousands of people participate annually in events sponsored by the Brotherhood of the Lord of Miracles (HESMIPERU).
