175th Committee Descriptions

The Central Stories Committee will gather and provide written and oral stories, mementos, artifacts, images, and other historical materials that commemorate the legacy of the university to be displayed as part of the anniversary celebration.  Will include an update to the university timeline.

The Successful Alumni Committee will reach out to noteworthy and successful alumni to encourage their involvement in the 175th anniversary celebrations.  This group will work on fundraising ideas and gather testimonials.

The 175th Magazine Committee is responsible for creating anniversary-related content and distributing materials to Central alumni and to the greater university community.

The Time Capsule Committee — which will include students — will compile artifacts for a time capsule that will commemorate the 175th anniversary. In addition, there will be a press event to uncover an older time capsule and bury the new one.

The Community Involvement/Municipality Committee is responsible for outreach to local governments, municipalities, and the greater Central community to engage them in anniversary festivities.

The Gala Committee will manage all aspects of the gala event, which will be held during  Homecoming weekend. This includes but is not limited to securing a venue, catering services, invitations, decorations, and securing vendors.

The Birthday Party Committee is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all aspects of the September birthday party event and the June 22 birthday toast. This includes but is not limited to securing a venue, catering services, invitations, decorations, and activities.

This committee will oversee planning and execution of celebratory anniversary events that do not include the gala or birthday party events. This could include special academic program offerings, lectures, and more.

Work with students to identify opportunities for the 175th to be a part of their academic and student life activities. Possible ideas: Creative art contest; banner-signing by students; create a time capsule; and birthday party events etc.
