This fall: Free child care for student-parents

Published:

Over the last few years, Central has greatly expanded its support services to address the needs of our changing student population. The CCSU “Blanket of Support” features academic, financial, and social and emotional programs meant to boost student persistence and success. This fall, the university will offer additional and much-needed assistance to student-parents with the opening of the CCSU Drop-in Child Care Center.

The center is located in Carroll Hall’s lower level. Its proximity to the Willard DiLoreto parking lot and new parking garage will provide student-parents with convenient access. Several grants are funding the center’s operation, which enables the university to offer free services to student-parents who are registered for classes at CCSU.

The center’s team has developed high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational and enrichment experiences for children from age 3 to 12 years old. Information about the curriculum, teaching philosophy, and other program details are available at www.ccsu.edu/childcare/.

The center will prioritize registration to accommodate student-parents; if space permits, faculty and staff will be welcome to register their child for a fee.

Please note, only registered students will have access to child-care services, and they must complete the registration process before their children can begin attending programs at the Center. Registration for Fall 2022 is required and is now open. Parents will receive an email within 48 hours to confirm their registration and will be provided with additional instructions. Online registration materials, instructions, and other important enrollment information are available at this link or contact Director Kelly McCarthy at (860) 832-2125 or at kellymccarthy@ccsu.edu.
