On June 18, the American Volleyball Coaches Association recognized the Central volleyball team with a Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season. The Blue Devils have achieved the team academic honor for 16 consecutive seasons, which is the sixth-longest active streak in Division I.
“Our student-athletes push themselves to achieve their most, both academically and athletically,” Central head coach Linda Sagnelli said. “They continue to set the standard for future Central volleyball teams on and off the court.”
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
The Blue Devils had 14 student-athletes named to the Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, including 10 named to the NEC Commissioner’s Honor Roll for a 3.75-plus GPA. Natalie Novak was recognized with the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year award after graduating with a 4.0 GPA in Exercise Science this spring.
