Central Story Exchange seeks student interviewers

Published:

The faculty at the Central Story Exchange are seeking students interested in interviewing Connecticut residents age 60 and older about their lives, in particular about how they faced social and political challenges, but also personal histories in general. Professor Collins will provide a brief training on how to conduct the interview (which we limit to an hour, and which should be done in person but can also be done via phone or virtually given COVID issues). The student will work with Professor Collins and the subject to then edit the transcript into a readable narrative that we post on the CCSU Gerontology website under the Central Story Exchange archive. Classes use the narratives as living history material for subjects as broad as WWII, Great Depression, Vietnam War, history of AIDS/HIV, social and racial issues in the U.S. and more! Be part of building something special for the state and CCSU.

Contact Professor Mary Collins at collinsmae@ccsu.edu if you are interested.
