Climate change contest deadline extended

The Center for Community Engagement and Social Research (CCESR), Global Environmental Sustainability Action Coalition (GESAC), and CCSU Geography Department are proud to announce an opportunity for students to participate in “Reflect & Preserve: What Climate Change Means to Me.” This is a reflective writing/multimedia contest in which all matriculated undergraduate students are encouraged to express their understandings and personal connection to climate change and the issues it has brought to the forefront. Submissions will be accepted until December 22.

Submissions will be evaluated by panels of judges based on an assessment rubric developed by our staff, and winning authors will be awarded scholarships up to $2,500! The winning authors will be invited to present their work at GESAC’s Annual Global Environmental Sustainability Symposium on April 10.

We encourage all students of different backgrounds and walks of life to participate in this contest, as climate change affects every community within the larger society. Consider some potential questions: What does climate change mean to you? How has climate change affected you, those you hold close and your expectations for the future? How has climate change disproportionately impacted communities of color and low-income communities? What more needs to be done?
