New Britain ROOTS was founded to create hands-on experiences for students to learn about where their food comes from. Today ROOTS promotes gardening, urban agriculture, food access, and education throughout New Britain to build a more just and equitable future through food for city residents.
New Britain ROOTS is looking for volunteers for their after-school programs as well as general gardening support.
For after school support, they are looking for students comfortable working with elementary/middle school children.
Students will be accompanied by our after-school staff to help with activities, lesson set up and break-down, and individual support for students.
These opportunities are open from October-May. For gardening, they are looking for students who are comfortable working outside (having some knowledge of gardening is helpful) and can work independently if needed.
Gardening opportunities are open May-September.
