Decorti Rodgers-Tonge, DBA, is an associate professor of accounting in the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University. Dr. Rodgers-Tonge earned her DBA from Temple, Fox School of Business, MBA from Western New England University, MSAT from the University of Hartford, and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst). Before pursuing her academic career, Dr. Rodgers-Tonge worked in accounting for over a decade. She started her career in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers and moved into the private accounting sector shortly after that. She managed auditing of operational, compliance, and financial functions at large corporations such as CIGNA Healthcare, Travelers Insurance, and Voya Financial. During her tenure at CIGNA, she was a prominent contributor to building the newly required Sarbanes-Oxley program and was distinguished for her contributions. She has also facilitated training sessions on productive organizational collaborations, time management, operational efficiencies, and building professional habits to improve career success. She has also been recognized throughout her career for the various training and coaching methodologies employed within Audit. This background allows Dr. Rodgers-Tonge to share her perceptiveness and experiences on different organizational risk and accounting requisites that will enable students to correlate their studies to real-life experiences.
Dr. Rodgers-Tonge's teaching interests include Principles of Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting. Dr. Rodgers-Tonge's research focuses on (1) curriculum and programs that may impact the retention of students in higher education and (2) the impact and role of accounting in society.
Dr. Rodgers-Tonge serves on various task forces and committees at Central and in the community. Her areas of community engagement include Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Teaching in Excellence, and Assurance Of Learning.
Dr. Rodgers-Tonge is passionate about educating individuals on the life-changing benefits of obtaining an education. She also enjoys traveling, hosting cooking events for friends and family, and doing home improvement projects.
