Biography

Interests and Hobbies: In my free time, I like to snuggle up with my dog and browse Netflix or Hulu for my next binge-worthy show to watch. I enjoy reading, writing poetry, gaming, and spending time with my loved ones.

Biography: Hello Blue Devils! My name is Destiny Barnum, and I am the Area Coordinator of Thomas Gallaudet Hall. I was raised in Stratford, CT but have been fortunate to live in various beautiful areas of CT. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Professional Writing with a Concentration in Creative Writing from Western Connecticut State University in December of 2021. During my time at WCSU, I worked as a Resident Assistant for 3 years and was awarded 'Returning RA of the Year' in May of 2021. Being an RA sparked my passion of continuing my work in Residence Life, and inspired to be where I am today. During my undergraduate studies, I was a frequent performer at Coffeehouse, an open mic event in which I shared my poetry and cheered on other talents. My goal is to strive to foster an inclusive and supportive environment on campus and within Gallaudet Hall to allow each student to feel a sense of belonging in our community.

Message to New Students: College is the best time to make memories! Get involved, be open to exploring new things, and utilize the resources offered on campus. The Central community is rooting for you as you navigate your academic journey, and you are not expected to do it alone. You are all here for the common goal of earning your degree, but don't forget to have fun!
