Biography

Dr. Ken Shell is an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and Connecticut, a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) in Georgia, and a Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC). He comes to Central Connecticut State University from Clark Atlanta University where he served as a counselor educator and clinical mental health program coordinator.

His current clinical focus is addictions, anger management, IPV prevention, interprofessional collaboration, and racism-related stress. Dr. Shell has worked in many counseling settings, such as school-based mental health, school counseling, college career centers, and private agencies. He has worked with children, adolescents, and adults.

Dr. Shell was the PI on a $1.8 million Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant to provide interprofessional training to students at his former institution in their clinical settings. His goal is to educate, encourage, and enrich the lives of his clients, students, and the community through his commitment to advocacy, mental health, family wellness, and leadership.
