Julien Strong (they/them) is Assistant Professor of English at Central, with a teaching specialty in Poetry Writing and Fiction Writing. Strong is the author of four books, including the poetry collections Tour of the Breath Gallery (Texas Tech University Press, winner of the Walt McDonald First-Book Award) and The Mouth of Earth (University of Nevada Press); and the novels The Fainting Room (Ig, Tantor Media) and Burning the Sea (Alyson Books).
The recipient of grants from the Connecticut Office of the Arts and the Sustainable Arts Foundation, their writing has appeared widely, including in the journals POETRY, The Nation, The Southern Review, Southwest Review, Poetry Daily, Mississippi Review, River Styx, and The Sun.
