Job Purpose:

Staff person responsible for the daily processing of paperwork for the following areas:

Title: Breakers Attendant - Student Assistant

Job Purpose:

The attendant is responsible for managing all operations of Breakers Game Room while on shift. This person is also responsible for the appearance of the room while on shift. The attendant will be involved in the planning of the pool tournaments and game room events during the Fall and Spring semesters.

General Duties:

  1. Hand out gaming equipment, board games, and playing cards to students, faculty, and staff when presented with a valid Central ID.
  2. Maintain the appearance of the game room at all times by completing cleaning list, including the maintenance of all equipment and board games. Record any concerns in the Breakers Attendant Log.
  3. Keep attendant's desk area clean, including drawers, cabinets, and counter tops.
  4. Update the inventory list and report any items running low and any broken items to the student Breakers Operations Manager.
  5. Manage any troublesome situations in a professional and calm manner. Report incidents to the Operations Manager, Assistant Director, and Graduate Intern and Center Manager on duty depending on the nature of the situation.
  6. Record hourly entries into 7 Point Ops Breakers Attendant Log.
  7. Perform continuous rounds of the game room to ensure the safety and security of patrons and equipment.
  8. Other duties as assigned

Set-Up Crew

Shifts:

Scheduled shifts include 7a-10a, 10a-1p, 2p-5p, 5p-8p (M-F) & rotating schedule on weekends

Job Summary:

The Campus Assistant will assist the full-time Maintainer Staff of the Student Center with room set-ups, which includes moving furniture such as tables and chairs. This position will also assist in minor repairs around the Student Center. In addition, the Campus Assistant will support campus-wide setup needs. Finally, the Campus Assistant will support event needs as determined by the Central Reservations Office (CRO) or individual clients and those shifts will be offered on an event-by-event basis. All of the above will be performed with the highest concern for the appearance and service the Student Center provides. Students will report to a Graduate Intern and Setup Crew Operations Manager for their respective shift duties.

Specific Duties:

  1. To work with student and/or full-time staff in performing room set-ups throughout campus according to plans provided by the Central Reservations Office via reservations with diagrams and set-up worksheets. This includes interpreting diagrams and insuring details of all set-ups match those requested by the client.
  2. Assist the Head Maintainer of the Student Center with special projects/repairs.
  3. Use technology resources to identify tasks and setups to be completed during each shift. Maintain daily logs in 7POintOps to note any set-up changes and report any maintenance issues or broken equipment.
  4. Responsible for daily tasks requiring movement of equipment, furniture, etc. throughout campus.
  5. Complete rounds of campus buildings as needed to maintain building upkeep and appearance, such as straightening chairs, moving tables, and rearranging furniture.
  6. Responsible for picking up and supporting all event support shifts that need to be scheduled.
  7. Responsible for assisting clients in all needs during the event, including: ushering, coat checks, collecting tickets, etc.
  8. Responsible for checking in on client needs, ensuring equipment is on and running when required.

Title: Center Manager

Job Summary:

The Center Manager is responsible for the general supervision of The Student Center facilities. The Center Manager is responsible for hosting organizations that sponsor events and meetings in The Student Center. This person shall have working knowledge of and enforce all Student Center, University, and State policies, procedures, and laws.

General Duties:

  1. Review daily setup worksheet for activities schedule, room setups, employee scheduling and audio-visual needs during duty shift.
  2. Responsible for greeting clients sponsoring events or meetings in the Student Center. Shall open rooms for meetings, check the cleanliness and the setup of rooms and audio-visual equipment as needed. Responsible for checking condition of the room after event or meeting is over. Shall close and report the conditions of the facilities at the end of the shift.
  3. Make hourly rounds of the Student Center to secure areas not in use, check condition of facilities, and check in with student employees on duty.
  4. Assist in the supervision of student employees on duty in their appropriate areas. Supervise special crews and/or student maintainers in room setup and special maintenance tasks.
  5. Shall have a working knowledge of and enforce the Student Center policies and procedures in addition to University and State policies that relate to Student Center operations.
  6. Shall serve as a generalist, having a basic knowledge for all working areas of the Student Center.
  7. Shall complete entries in the duty log throughout their shift that describes the activity in the building. This is not only done on the hourly rounds, but anytime the Center Manager deems important.
  8. Shall develop, together with other Center Managers, a duty schedule at least one month in advance. Center Managers are limited to working 20 hours per week. Please See Scheduling Policy

Overall Description

The Event Assistant provides general clerical support services and assistance in the Central Reservations Office. The Event Assistant acts as the receptionist for clients via incoming telephone calls and in-person walk-ins, as well as reviewing online requests via email or the VirtualEMS reservation system. The Event Assistant checks facility availability and makes simple reservations for meetings forwarding more complex events to the Event Coordinators. Assists in follow-up with Service Managers on event details to assure services are scheduled and provided. Individual assists with reports development and distribution to appropriate offices.

Specific Duties:

  1. Receives clients by phone, email, walk-in, or Virtual request, verifying client’s eligibility for use of University facilities under current policies.
  2. Shall check availability of facilities and make initial bookings, completing those that are for simple meetings and forwarding complex events to the Event Coordinators.
  3. Assist in developing detailed setup diagrams for events when needed, via Microsoft Visio, and distribute them to appropriate staff.
  4. Assist with placing service orders with Service Managers for upcoming events and to make sure all funding approval request information is entered.
  5. Assist in maintaining both on-line and hard copy files for the Central Reservations Office.
  6. Assist in production of various reports from automated EMS and distributes them to appropriate departments.
  7. May be assigned other duties as needed and appropriate to classification.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills as much of the work involves direct client contacts from both on and off campus.
  2. Good understanding of general office procedures.
  3. Familiarity with use of computer database and Microsoft Office (training on specific programs will be provided).
  4. Excellent organizational skills.

Title: Esports - Student Assistant

Job Summary:

The attendant is responsible for operational functions in Memorial Hall. Responsibilities include the management of the Esports Game Room, Student Center Annex, President’s Dining Room, and other duties as assigned. Attendants will monitor headcounts in each room, assist with troubleshooting with gaming equipment and other technology, and assist clients with their events booked in the Annex and Dining room. Inventory must be tracked before openings and closings in order to track lost and stolen equipment.

Duties:

  1. Check the 7Point Ops Breakers Daily Log at the start of each shift to gain information on what has happened earlier in the day. While on shift, attendants are responsible for logging each hour about the following: Number of people in the rooms, what games are being played, which consoles are in use, etc…
  2. Maintain the appearance of the game room at all times by completing the game room check list, including the maintenance of all equipment and controllers. Record any concerns in the 7Point Ops Daily Log.
  3. Manage the Student Center annex room, which contains lounge space for students, lockers for storage, and meeting room space that can be booked for student club use.
  4. Update the INVENTORY LIST and report any items running low and any broken items to the Daily Log. Report any missing or stolen items to the area supervisor and the IT department.
  5. Manage any troublesome situations in a professional and calm manner. Report incidents to the Graduate Intern or Center Manager on duty.
  6. Attend scheduled staff meetings.

Title: Event Support

Job Summary:

The Event Crew staff members will be responsible for providing support services to various campus events including concerts, recitals, shows, etc. These services include ushering, collection of tickets, handing out programs, preparation of event space, breakdown of event space, and other various needs to support the client responsible for the event. Staff will also be responsible for providing the client access to dressing rooms, posting signage for events, and supporting the tech staff if necessary. Event Crew will also be required to enforce policies set in place for specific event venues.

Specific Duties:

  1. To support client needs for events campus wide in regard to ushering, ticketing, and making sure space is ready for events campus wide, including Welte Auditorium, Torp Theatre, Founders Hall, the Student Center, etc.
  2. Responsible for assisting clients in all needs during the event, including: ushering, coat checks, collecting tickets, etc.
  3. Assist and direct event attendees as they may need help locating a specific space or answering a question about the event.
  4. Use technology resources to identify tasks and client needs to be completed during each a particular event. Write a log in 7POintOps to report how the event went, any challenges that occurred, or important information needed to be passed along.
  5. Responsible for picking up and supporting all event support shifts that need to be scheduled amongst the team.
  6. Responsible for checking in on client needs, ensuring equipment is on and running when required.

Title: Staff Assistant - Student Web/Graphic Designer

Job Summary:

Shall promote the growth of “community” on the Central campus through regular departmental publications. Project areas include: the publication of AMP and the AMP boards, Carousel promotions and departmental design projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Shall be a team leader in designing a storyboard for the semester.
  2. Shall gather campus wide information on activities and programs that promote growth of “community” on the Central campus.
  3. In cooperation with the Central Reservations Office, shall obtain information on specific daily events and design the campus information service publication AMP.
  4. Shall design with consultation of the publication the posters for the AMPboards.
  5. Shall implement design components and aid in web development for the Student Center website
  6. Designer shall work collaboratively with all Student Center Staff members in designing advertisements, informational materials and other graphics projects for the department.
  7. Shall update department materials each semester to showcase services
  8. Shall attend all staff meetings, in-services, and scheduled training sessions.

Title: Information Desk/CENtix Box Office Attendant

Job Purpose:

To facilitate a welcoming atmosphere to the campus community and guests who seek support or information when visiting Central Connecticut State University and our Student Center. The Information Desk attendant supports managers in their efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for the community. Responsible for daily support of all operational areas of the Student Center. Serve as the CENtix Box Office attendant selling tickets and student services, which embodies positive customer service.

General Duties:

  1. To provide accurate information quality customer service to the Central community and its visitors.
  2. Answers calls for Central main phone number (832-3200) known as the Call Center.
  3. Gather, organize, and provide the campus community and guests current and accurate information on activities, services, directions, phone numbers, etc.
  4. Attendants provide support of managers in the overall safety, security and operation of the facility.
  5. Maintain the Information Desk and its materials in a professional, clean and organized manner each day.
  6. Answer all phone calls – including the campus operator phone – in a courteous and professional manner and direct them to the proper source of information.
  7. Organize, maintain, and properly issue the Student Center's emergency auto equipment and commuter toolbox etc. to students and faculty with proper I.D.
  8. Maintain and follow standard operating procedures for the Student Center's lost and found service.

CENtix Box Office: Cash Accountability and Reconciliation

  • Process and distribute all tickets sales, services, facilitate patrons rental of mailboxes and lockers through the CENtix Box Office to the Central community, following each standard operating procedure correctly utilizing the ticketing system…know your customers.
  • Attendants have fiduciary responsibility for their cash drawer.
  • All team members must staff all services so that they are covered. Thus, attendants are required to work a minimum of three satellite shifts each semester that meets the demands of the Student Center.

Requirements of the Position:

  • Must complete Data Class Level 3 (DCL)/Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance Training as required by Central.
  • Cover all scheduled shifts and come to work on time, in uniform and presentable. Shifts that need to be covered must be finalized at least 72 hours in advance, unless under emergency circumstances.
  • Attendance is mandatory. Failure to adjust your schedule without approval, attend meetings or shifts without being excused is a missed shift. If excused it is up to the attendant to meet with the Information Desk/CENtix Box Office Operations Manager or Graduate Intern supervisor about information. Failure to contact supervisors within 72 hours will result in documentation.

Title: Student Center Technician

Job Summary:

The Student Center Technician is responsible for the technical aspects of all events within the Student Center, Memorial Hall, Davidson Hall, Hilltop, academic buildings, and outdoor locations across campus. Events hosted include but are not limited to dances, lectures, conferences, concerts, and outdoor events. He/she is also responsible for running all equipment according to specifications, for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and department, and for any other duties as required to enhance the technical services being provided.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Under the supervision of a Graduate Intern, the Technician is involved in the production process required before, during, and after events. This includes event set-up and take-down, providing lighting and sound equipment, and all other duties that are deemed necessary for the event.
  2. The Technician is responsible for assisting clients before, during, and after events. This includes but is not limited to helping with any changes in setup, technical troubleshooting, and loading in additional equipment as necessary.
  3. The Technician is responsible for keeping the tech areas clean and organized according to safety guidelines.
  4. The Technician attends crew meetings under the supervision of the Operations Manager and Graduate Intern. He/she is also responsible for attending all in-service and all-employee training sessions. He/she is also responsible for keeping up to date on coming events.
  5. The Technician is expected to stay with the event throughout its duration and should introduce themselves to the client and be available to them during the entire event.
  6. The Technician is responsible for recording all occurrences, updates, and notes in the Tech Services log for each shift worked.
  7. The Technician is responsible for assisting with completing tasks in the task list when free time is afforded to them.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Graduate Intern and Technical Support Assistant.
