Four aspiring educators at Central Connecticut State University will get a boost to their education thanks to a national scholarship program for Education students.
Nylamar Samuels, Samantha Escobales, Sherrod Cuttino, and Anasofia Rodriguez Vazquez were awarded $5,000 each in the most recent round of scholarship awards presented by the Aspiring Educators Diversity Scholarship Program. All four students are pursuing History Education degrees—Samuels and Cuttino plan to teach at the elementary school level, and Escobales and Rodriguez Vazquez aim to teach secondary school students.
Central’s scholarship winners are all graduates of New Britain High School who enrolled at Central through Educators Rising, a pathway program for high school students who intend to pursue Education degrees. Central has been a proud partner with Educators Rising since 2020.
The Aspiring Educators Diversity Scholarship Program, administered by the state Department of Education, presents annual scholarships to diverse students who graduated from a public high school in a priority school district and are enrolled in a teacher preparation program at any four-year institution of higher education. Students must be in good academic standing to be considered for a scholarship.
