The Central Connecticut State University Community Health Education Clinic opened for business on Jan. 24.
The clinic offers free health screenings to Greater New Britain residents and members of the campus community every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon on a walk-in basis. Students and faculty from Central’s Nursing program will conduct the screenings.
Available services include vision screening, hearing screening, blood pressure checks, glucose screening, cholesterol screening, height/weight, nutritional counseling, foot soaks and assessments, dementia screening, stroke risk screening, and depression screening.
The Community Health Education Clinic is located in the basement level of Nicolaus Copernicus Hall. Access parking and the clinic entrance from Manafort Drive; travelers on CTfastrak can disembark at stop #144
The clinic opened in October 2023 with a goal to address healthcare disparities in the surrounding community while allowing students studying healthcare to gain hands-on experience with the oversight of faculty.
