Students at Central Connecticut State University took to the airwaves to join the national conversation during the presidential election Nov. 5.
Students in Professor Darren Sweeney’s Newscast Practicum class presented a half-hour news cast that they wrote and produced in advance of election night. With support from Introduction to Broadcast students, the program was filmed in the university’s Media Center television studio and aired live on YouTube. Watch it here!
Sweeney says the presidential election presents a particularly meaningful education opportunity to students who are learning to assess and present facts clearly in front of a live audience.
“Doing a live broadcast for the presidential election is a fantastic opportunity for our students to hone their craft,” Sweeney says. “It will get them reporting on what is shaping up to be one of the most important elections we have ever seen.”
