Packaging Technology Field Trip

November 7, 2023

GRT 272 Class

On Tuesday, November 7, the members of GRT 272, Packaging Technology, visited The Unicorr Group in North Haven, CT. Their instructor, Prof. David DeFeo along with the CEGT department Chair Dr. Shuju Wu were shown the inner workings of the corrugated cardboard manufacturing, printing plant, and their design studio. Unicorr prints, die cuts and ships all over the northeast getting packaging materials to manufacturers of everything from large appliances to wineries. The trip was very informative and the students pictured work in Central’s Graphics Technology lab to prototype packaging of smaller products. “We also learned that we are right in step with the design and prototyping practices used at Unicorr, validating the nature of our curriculum and lab activities”, said Prof. David DeFeo
