We encourage all students to contribute to ongoing research projects with Geological Science or Science Education faculty. These projects give our students hands-on experience with research techniques, laboratory instruments, field equipment, and analysis software that are commonly used in research and industry careers.
Students electing one of our “Geology” specializations must complete either a Senior Project for course credit or attend an external geology field camp as part of their degree program. Senior Projects are independent research projects that are designed and completed by the student with supervision of a department faculty member.
Students who participate in research projects are encouraged to present their results at a local, regional, or national research conference. Recent presentations by our students at regional and national conferences are linked below.
