History
The LGBTQ Center celebrated its opening in the Fall of 2009. It was created through the efforts of the One in Ten Committee, a group composed of students, faculty, and staff. The Center originated from a conversation about the need for a welcoming and supportive safe space for LGBT students on campus. As of 2022 the Center has been in service to the Central community for 13 years.
Mission
Under the Office for Equity & Inclusion (OEI), the LGBTQ Center strives to provide a welcoming, and safe space for all students, faculty, and staff by offering social justice focused programming, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Vision
The LGBTQ Centers vision is to be a welcoming space for where all students, faculty and staff feel welcomed, seen and celebrated. We stand up against discrimination and educate to bring awareness and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community on campus.
