Description of Services

Our department offers a variety of services to support communications, media, marketing, and design needs across the institution. Whether you need assistance with event promotion, press outreach, social media, digital signage, or print materials, our team is here to help ensure your message is clear, consistent, and effectively reaches the right audience. By utilizing our centralized resources, you can maximize visibility and maintain a cohesive brand presence.

Print Advertisement 

Combination of text and graphics used to promote Central in a variety of printed materials. Standard ads are available. Select this option on the form when available ads are not suitable. Standard ads can be viewed here.

Postcard

Information and graphics printed on front and back to promote an event or service that is usually mailed to recipients. It may include a QR code that takes users to a website for registration or more information. These are available in a of 5x8 inches, and large of 6x9 inches.

Logo

Requests for logos will follow the naming conventions detailed in the brand guidelines.

Brochure

Information piece with text and graphics to promote a program, department, or service. Printed front and back and may include a QR code that takes users to a website for more information. Brochures are printed on an 8.5x11-inch paper and use either a Z fold or trifold format.

QR Code

Scannable image that takes users to a web page or electronic form.

Banner

Graphics for use at the top on an email. Regular email banners are 650x200 pixels and Slate banners are 520x200 pixels.

Flyer

Combination of text and graphics printing on a single side of 8.5x11-inch paper or card stock. May contain a QR code that takes users to a website or web form.

Event Program

Printed piece, frequently in booklet format, detailing the activities that will take place during an event and the order they will take place. May include the times for each activity. Small program booklets are 5.5x8.5 inches and large are 8.5x11 inches.

Poster

Graphics and text for an event, club or informational purposes that may contain a QR code that takes users to a website or web form. Materials are printed on a single side of paper or card stock that is 11x17 inches.

Digital Stationary/Letterhead

Graphic template created on a word document. Requesters receive two documents, one with their unique logo and a second with the mail Central clock tower logo in the document header and office or department information in the footer.

Slim Jim

Combination of text and graphics containing a brief description of a program or event that may contain a QR code that takes users to a website for more information. Printed on both sides of 3.75x9.25-inch card stock.

Square Card

Brief text information with a QR code that takes users to a website for more information. Printed on both sides of 4x4 inch card stock. 

Press advisory

Invite media outlets to cover an event. Please provide a contact person for media if requesting an advisory. Please note: An advisory sent does not guarantee media coverage.

Social media push

Events/news will be shared on the university’s official social media platforms.

Press release

Basic information about your event/news will be sent to media outlets after the event or when we become aware of your news. Photos can be added. Please note: A release sent does not guarantee media inclusion or follow-up.

Photographer

Institutional Communications contracts with professional photographers to cover campus events and to generate marketing materials. Our staff can book a photographer for individual departments by request. By booking a professional photography shoot, the requesting department agrees to cover the hourly rate of $200 an hour coverage plus $75 per hour for post-production processing, which includes but is not limited to editing, color correction, and uploading images to a pick-up website, such as Flickr.

If one of our in-house staff members has the time and ability to cover a photo request, Communications will convey that option to the requesting department.

Digital signage

Central’s digital signage program displays useful, timely, and emergency information on strategically located campus displays in public areas. Digital signage requests and installations are evaluated on proposed location, placement within the location, proximity to other signage, effectiveness in reaching its audience, and content management plan.

Videographer

Video recording of events or other projects by Media Center staff or student worker (subject to staffing).

Video editing

Pare down; add narrative elements; or create something new from existing video with Media Center staff (subject to staffing).

Media Center streaming

Recording and livestreaming of events captured on video. (University YouTube channel use for live events is subject to approval by leadership.)

Drone photos/video

Drone photos/video: Capture drone footage of university facilities (as permitted by FAA regulations and subject to weather conditions)
