Nominations open for Bradley M. Waite Research Award

Please consider nominating a faculty member for the Bradley M. Waite Research Award! The award is presented annually to a Central faculty member in recognition of excellence in research with human subjects, service in research compliance administration, and instruction in the conduct of ethical research.

Examples of relevant activities in which excellence could be demonstrated:

  • Conducting research requiring sensitivity to ethical issues in working with human participants
  • Supporting colleagues in addressing human subjects ethics in their research
  • Serving on the CCSU Institutional Review Board
  • Supervising student work (e.g., dissertations, theses, independent research projects) as an advisor and/or committee member involving mentoring on human subjects ethics and
  • Class instruction on human subjects ethics in the conduct of research

To make a nomination, please submit a statement of up to 500 words describing how the nominee has demonstrated excellence in activities, such as the examples listed above. Nominations can be made by faculty and staff. Self-nominations are acceptable.

Nomination statements must be e-mailed by noon on Monday, April 3, to Sue Malley at malleys@ccsu.edu.

This award is named for Dr. Bradley M. Waite from the Psychological Science Department. Dr. Waite admirably served as the chair of the Institutional Review Board (formally known as the Human Studies Council) for more than 25 years. During his tenure, Dr. Waite was the campus authority in all areas involving research with human subjects and personally reviewed thousands of research protocols for CCSU’s faculty, staff, and students.
