New Student Checklist

Welcome! You are now a Blue Devil!

As a new student, we hope this checklist serves as a helpful guide for your transition into your first semester! Be sure to explore the provided links, and if you have any questions, the Office of New Student Programs is here to assist you. Welcome aboard!

Plan for Registration

  • Share your SAT/ACT Scores to help us create the perfect schedule for your first semester.
  • Check to see if you will need to complete a Math Placement Exam
    • If you determine that you will need to take the Math Placement Accuplacer Exam, you may contact The Learning Center at 860.832.1900
  • Complete Writing Placement Exams
    • If you need to take the Writing Placement Exam, you will receive information in your email. Please visit the Writing Placement Exam Webpage for more details.
  • First-Year Students:
    • If you're joining us for the first time in the Fall semester, you'll have the chance to meet with advisors and finalize your course schedule during Orientation. For those starting in the Spring semester, you'll receive guidance from an academic advisor to help you prepare your course schedule.
  • Transfer Students: 
    • After you confirm your acceptance, you’ll meet with an academic advisor. These advising sessions may be individual or in groups, and your advisor will assist you in preparing your course schedule. 

  • Residents: Complete Housing Application
  • Review/Accept any financial aid offers
  • Pay your Tuition & Fees 
    • Once you are registered for classes, your status is switched to being enrolled. This will generate a billing statement to be prepared for you. Tuition is due on December 15 for Spring term, and July 15 for Fall term.

Orientation for new students starting in Spring 2025 will be held on Wednesday, January 15, and Friday, January 17, 2025. Look for an email in November with a link to sign up.

Orientation dates for Summer 2025 will be announced soon. Please check back for updates; a sign-up link will be sent to your Central email.

Convocation & Kickoff: Each year, just before the Fall semester starts, we welcome new students with an inspiring Convocation program, and one of our beloved traditions, Kizer’s Kickoff, held the day before classes begin. Stay tuned for more details!

Familiarize yourself with campus resources and our Student Support Services

Gain a clear understanding of your academic program by reviewing Curriculum Sheets, Academic Maps, and Program Descriptions.

Complete the required Sexual Violence Prevention Training (online). You can find a link on on the website or watch for an email coming to your inbox.

Attend campus events , join a club (or two!) and discover a community of people you enjoy!
