The STEM Education graduate program at Central is designed to equip certified school teachers in the discipline areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Teachers will learn to use scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical concepts to design curricula utilizing a variety of methods and materials to support instruction for a wide range of student developmental and cultural differences. The program will also enable teachers to prepare students for college readiness, future STEM careers, and teach students the skills of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication needed for the 21st century.

What is unique about this program?

The STEM Education program at Central fully integrates the STEM disciplines for practical application in the classroom. The integration of the STEM disciplines in curriculum development and assessment through Problem Based Learning (PBL) creates authentic, meaningful learning experiences for teachers and students.

All coursework aligns with National and State content standards in each discipline and Common Core for Mathematics and Language Arts. The integration of science and engineering practices focus on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
