Admission Criteria:
Applicants to the MA programs must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education, with a minimum of twenty-four (24) credits’ preparation in the language(s) in which graduate work will be done. International applicants must meet the Graduate School regular requirements for admission. Native-speakers educated in Spanish/French speaking countries need to consult with the World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department about admission criteria. With approval of the adviser, candidates with sufficient background in a second language other than English may be permitted to include a maximum of 6 credits of appropriate graduate courses in this language in their program (see listing of appropriate courses in the back). Certified teachers whose oral proficiency skills are of sufficient caliber may include up to six (6) credits in professional education in their MS program. The candidate must have a minimum GPA of 2.70 and at least 3.0 in the language chosen for the Master’s Degree.
The World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department limits the number of transfer graduate credits to 9 (nine) from any other institution. For more information on graduate studies, please visit www.ccsu.edu/grad.

Learning Outcomes for Graduate Degrees (MA):
- Conduct research in different areas of the field of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures: Literature, Culture, Pedagogy, and Applied Linguistics.
- Use the target language to write about major works in Italian, Spanish, or Spanish American Literature.
- Use the target language to write about topics related to the cultures of Italy, Spain, or Spanish America
- Use the target language to analyze Italian or Spanish grammar as well to analyze the target language structure.
