The art history minor introduces students to a broad range of art from different time periods, cultures, and geographic regions. The study of art history develops a student’s visual literacy and enhances cultural awareness of societies around the world. Students learn to understand art within the contexts of religion, culture, politics, gender, race, philosophy, technology, and society. An art history minor complements studies in education, history, museum studies, anthropology, classics, geography, tourism, cultural studies, international business, international or global studies, criminology, sociology, archaeology, architecture, landscape architecture, theatre, English, foreign languages and literature, and arts administration.
