Applying for Admission

Application deadlines:
Fall admission - June 15
Spring admission - November 1
Summer admission - March 15. 

For consideration, applicants must submit the following:

  1. A completed online application with supplemental materials (ccsu.edu/apply):
    • Proof of a minimum of 3 years teaching experience (For Special Education concentration, applicants must have special education teaching or related pupil services experience)
    • Proof of possession of, or eligibility for, a Connecticut teaching certificate (Students without the certificate must pass the Praxis I)
    • Two letters of recommendation from school administrators
    • Essay about:
      • Reason for pursuing this certificate
      • Future career goals
    • Interview with program faculty
    • $50 application fee
  2. Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (GPA of 3.00 or higher required on postbaccalaureate work) 
    • Master’s degree
    • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.00 on all post-baccalaureate coursework
