We appreciate your interest in one of our teacher preparation programs at CENTRAL! All undergraduate teacher preparation programs in the School of Education require special admission. Admission criteria, standards, and procedures vary by program and are typically guided by accrediting agencies and organizations. Please note that acceptance into any program is not guaranteed. Detailed program criteria, standards, and procedures are available below for each specific program.
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing teacher preparation are initially accepted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, which grants admissibility to the university as Pre-Education majors. Pre-Education majors will work closely with their advisor and/or the Dean’s Office to ensure they understand the structure of the teacher education program and the admission requirements for acceptance into the professional program.
*Most students will apply for admission into the Professional Program by the second semester of their sophomore year or the first semester of their junior year. This timeline is dependent on meeting program requirements, which may include, but are not limited to, GPA requirements, prerequisite coursework, and minimum grade requirements in certain courses, as well as other expectations.
