The Saturday Art Workshop (SAW) is a Central program that offers opportunities to participating K-12 students from the Greater Hartford region, to take art classes at the University.
First and foremost, SAW serves as a pre-Student Teaching Practicum, through which the classes are instructed and designed by Central Teacher Candidate students accepted to the Art Education Professional Program. Our students work with a variety of media in lessons that are fun and engaging. Activities include lessons in
drawing, painting, and mixed media. Past lessons have included creative self portraits, clay animal sculptures, imaginative landscapes, and more!
Each year we have an impressive end-of-session Art Show in the Central Art Gallery, for family and friends to see the talent of our SAW students.
In Spring 2025, the SAW Session will run for 7 weeks on Saturday Mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Please check back in December for registration information.
If you have any questions, please contact the SAW staff at SAW@ccsu.edu or the Art Department front desk at 860.832.2620.
