Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Studies Minor
Established in Spring 2022, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Studies is a multidisciplinary minor program offered by the Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies Committee at Central. The AAPI Studies minor draws from social science, history, and both literary and cultural traditions to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the experiences and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.

Certificate in Racial Justice
Central’s interdisciplinary Certificate in Racial Justice is designed to educate currently enrolled students and professional education students about such concepts as anti-racism, advocacy, white privilege, and institutionalized racism in the United States. The anti-racist education will expand an understanding of systemic racism in the United States, providing citizens and students with tools to advocate for and begin to repair social, cultural, economic, and legal inequalities that affect our neighborhoods and our nation.

East Asian Studies Minor
East Asia plays an important role in international politics and the global economy. It is a diverse region of countries with their own special history and culture. The Central East Asian Studies Program offers a broad and flexible interdisciplinary approach designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the region. The curriculum leads to the major (B.A.), minor, or M.S. in International Studies with a concentration in East Asian Studies. The concentration in East Asian Studies is designed to help students develop a multidisciplinary understanding of the culture, history, and contemporary problems of East Asia.

Japanese Language Program
The Japanese Language course offerings at Central provide beginner to intermediate level training in the Japanese language with a focus on cultural competency. Language and Humanities classes offered provide the framework for pursuing multiple Japan-focused careers such as work in intercultural exchange and government, translation and language and cultural instruction.
