Eligibility
All CCSU students are welcome to audition for University Singers, regardless of major. University Singers always includes music majors and non-music majors.
Commitment
University Singers rehearses 4 hours per week. We perform several times each semester both for campus events as well as for off campus concerts. We often record, tour, and lead workshops during the year as well. Every year is a little different, but everyone who earns a spot in the ensemble is expected to make University Singers a top priority. Membership in University Singers is a full-year commitment.
Audition Dates
Preliminary Round: Auditions for University Singers are held in the 4 days before classes each Fall semester.
Call-backs: Callbacks are held during the first class meeting (MWF 1:40-2:55).
Audition Procedure
Your audition will only take about 8 minutes, and will include range determination, sight-reading, tonal memory, and a brief interview.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
University Singer Scholarships are currently unavailable. If they become available, the following information will be useful.
Eligibility
Scholarships will be awarded to talented musicians, regardless of major. University Singers is typically composed of both music majors and non-music majors.
The Award
Students who earn the University Singers Scholarship will have half-tuition paid for four years. Awards are available for up to two incoming freshmen and up to two transfer students each year.
Requirements For Recipients
- Membership in University Singers each semester the student is on scholarship.
- Maintain a 3.5 G.P.A. in University Singers.
- Maintain a 2.8 overall G.P.A.
- A theory and/or music reading course may be required depending on the student's background.
- Leadership and organizational duties will be expected.
Scholarship Application Procedure
Applicants must first be admitted to Central. Submit... (1) a brief letter of introduction expressing interest in the scholarship program; (2) two letters of recommendation that attest to musical abilities, character, and leadership; and (3) a resume indicating musical experience. Legible electronic submissions will be accepted (e-mail materials to grobinson@ccsu.edu). If you prefer to submit hard copies, address applications to:

A notification of receipt will be e-mailed to you when your materials arrive to us. If you do not receive a message from us within a week of wending your materials, please contact Dr. Robinson or the Music Department office.
A live audition and interview is required in order to be considered. (Please see above.)
Submission Deadline
Preference will be given to applications received by April 1. Applications received after this date may still be considered depending on the continued availability of the scholarship.
